It is hard to pick just one verse. I think for me it depends on what is happening in my life at the moment. When I am thinking only of myself, I need to think of 1 John 3:17, 18. "But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth." Going with that thought is 2:17 "And the world is passing away, and the lusts of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever."
And for just day to day: 1John 2:28. "And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him and His coming."
John 1:17 For the Law was given through Moses, grace and truth was realized through Jesus Christ.
This verse shows the transition from the old to the new. The Law means death because of our sinful nature but through Jesus we have salvation and eternal life.
